I’ve been playing around with chain.
I’m a big fan of “sticky-outy” stuff in my necklaces and bracelets and wanted to
work on some ideas that have been simmering in the dark scary recesses of my brain lately.
So here, I used brass chain and altered it with enameled copper dumbbells.
I like the twig-like look of it.

So of course I made a bird to match and be the focal point… along with a metallic feather that goes beautifully with the oxidized copper don’t you think? And I also made a little pink enameled heart to dangle in there somewhere. The last step will be to make a Copper Clay clasp. I’ll oxidize that, and then put it all together.

Since I was already working with the copper wire, I also wove a little copper nest. The eggs came out of the kiln this morning, along with Mama ( I didn’t get a picture of her yet… she’s shy).

And on a completely unrelated topic…. aren’t these tangerines pretty? I don’t think I’ve ever seen
citrus at the supermarket with leaves still attached. It sold me…. had to take them home.

Nesting Instinct…

nesting1A new nesting sculpture is done. I really like the look of the wire woven nest on this one.
I’m cleaning out the basement today…. we’ll be turning it into my new studio…. a few challenges are involved…. figuring out some kind of a pump system for a sink, so I can have one down there…as it’s below the septic system, and installing a drop ceiling, and water sealing the walls and floor.
Lots to do, but it should be great when it’s finished… a LOT more room!
So I’m doing a bit of nesting as well….. feels good.
Have a great weekend!!

Bird House

I just finished this piece this morning.

I think I like it a lot. It’s hard to tell when you’ve worked on something for a long time to look at it objectively.

Have you ever noticed that? I had a lot of fun altering the chain, and making those little barbell stick thingie-whatsies sticking through it.

Some nice pieces out of the kiln as well….can you tell I’m kind of stuck in a color mood? I want to do another “nesting instinct” sculpture…thus the eggs.

Have a fabulous day!
