Bald and Beautiful….

I’m going to be registering for The Kids Cancer Buzz off today, and there is the option of registering a group… I’ll be shaving my head at Bead & Button this year in support of the oncology unit at Children’s Hospital in Boston… anyone care to join me? I’m thinking something like Bald Beaders… or Bald Bead Babes.. 🙂 Otherwise, I’ll register tonight alone. But don’t worry, I’ll still be hitting you up to sponsor me 🙂

Check out the web page for the Buzz-off HERE.

Come on… don’t be a wuss…. it’ll grow back, and we can strut around at Bead & Button with style!

Solitary Confinement…

Happy New year everyone!
Sorry to have been away.
The last few weeks have been busy, but not only with the holiday festivities;
My hubby recently had to go through some unpleasant eye surgery which was being performed at Mass Eye and Ear Hospital in Boston, MA.
His appointment was smack dab in the middle of the blizzard, so we had to do a little fast shuffling of plans to keep things on target.
These days it’s not so easy to re-schedule anything in the heath industry, and if somehow we were unable to make our appointment, then the next one wouldn’t have been available until February… not what we had in mind with the pain he was going through.
So…. we left our lovely Christmas holiday in Vermont, where we were staying at the Norwich Inn…

and made our way into Boston just as the snow was beginning to fly…

We needed to find a hotel near the hospital because by morning the Blizzard would be well underway.
The closest hotel we could find turned out to be a hotel called The Liberty.
It is an absolutely amazing hotel which was once the Charles Street Jail, and they have renovated it into a cradle of luxury.
POOR Us!!! 🙂

These pictures aren’t the best in the world, but it will give you an idea…
This is the outside of the hotel taken from our floor..

And these are a couple of images that were hanging in the lobby area to give you an idea of what it once looked like:

And now:

This one is the hallway leading from the lobby to the elevators:

And here is our room…. YUM!
and the little sign you hang on your doorknob when you want privacy:

Due to the storm, road and husband conditions, we ended up staying a second night. For such a negative situation, we had a wonderful time.
If you are in Boston and get the chance, drop by the Liberty Hotel… or just drop in for a drink at Clink (hotel bar). BTW… great wines and artisan cheeses on the app menu!

And Happy New Year! Here’s to You!

Aerosmith- The Boston Boys of Rock

Hubby and I took our 14-year old son to see his first concert last night.

Aerosmith. One of the few bands I’ve managed to miss seeing over the years, They were absolutely amazing!!

The Hometown rockers were resplendent. They played  all classic tracks including the entire Toys in the attic album straight through. I was in heaven. The set was shorter than I would have liked, at only 90 minutes, but it was performed to perfection, and with so much energy  and showmanship, that it’s hard to believe that they’re not still in their 20s! Steven Tyler had me grinning from the minute he walked out on the stage. And Joe Perry rocked the house.

Cameras weren’t allowed, so I didn’t bring mine, but when I got there, almost everyone had one! Arghhh. But I found these pics on the web, and thanks to an amazing photographer named Annie Zeleski, you’ve got a front row seat. These are from the June 10th St. Louis show, but everything was the same last night, right down to the clothing.  Find the rest of her photos here: hndinglove’s Flicker

We originally had Lawn seats waaaaaay in the back of the venue, but thanks to the fans who didn’t want to come out on a Tuesday night, the show still had open seats, and we upgraded our tickets to amazing seats with a center view much closer to the stage.  Thanks to the fans who have grown old , and thanks to the band that hasn’t!!!

We owe you one!

“Livin’ On The Edge!!!” On a school night!

This is the one and only shot I managed to get with my phone…

Can’t see anything really, but at least you can get a sense of where we were sitting…

Found this today….. live from Boston…:
